Moonfall review
You’ll probably wish the mood would fall on your head while watching this film …
Remember when Roland Emmerich made ID4 and everyone loved it? Well it's 26 years later and apparently Mr Emmerich is still chasing that kind of high because he continues to make the same type of film. Again and again and again and again. And every time he does so, like a photocopy of a photocopy, the quality decreases. Which, good listener, brings us to Moonfall.
Sigh.
Can this one be worse than Independence Day: Resurgence? What about Midway? Who paid money to see this one and how much do they regret it? And, most importantly, does Wayne continue his 2022 streak as Negatron?

Top Films Based on a True Story
Countdown #358
This week, top-level Patron Extraordinaire, Nicole Pressley, directed the guys to count down the very best Films Based on a True Story.
The last time Wayne and Paul ventured into such territory was with Episode 26, some 6 years and change ago, so you can bet their choices have changed, some 300 (for Wayne) and 1500 films later (in Paul's case).
Who thinks a comedy starring Ed Helms should make this list? Who has three Academy Award winning films on theirs (and does that really amount to sixth-eighth of anything worthwhile on a show like this)? And who gets offended at the other's omission of one Marty Scorsese film when that person had two other films from the master director on his list?

Peacemaker Mid-Season review
James Gunn returns to the DCEU!
Not content with aiding the resurrection of the DCEU last year, James Gunn returns with a sequel series to a character that would probably surprise many at first glance, Peacemaker.
This eight episode first season is streaming on HBO Max where available and Binge here in Australia and contains enough off the wall humour, comedic violence and excessive profanity, that there was only one way The Countdown was ever going to feel about this show. But who ends up loving it more and does 2022 Waynatron (Wayne + Negatron) continue (albeit relatively speaking)?

Bonus Ep: The Hating Game review
Listen in to hear the boys suffer …
There's an old saying that you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Or, if you prefer, you can't be a movie review podcast without reviewing a few horrendously terrible films. Such is the confirmation provided by this month's BONUS Ep in which the boys reviewed the The Hating Game - a film which achieved a cinematic release here in Aus despite being so bad it almost broke the show's rating system.
Who is more offended by a rom-com which is neither romantic or funny? What are the odds that Lucy Hale could be the best thing about any film? And just how many expressions does co-star Austin Stowell offer throughout this 102 minute nightmare?

The Countdown Vs Pint O’ Comics - Top 10 80s Comedies
Countdown #357. A Podcast Vs Podcast Episode.
For the first time in 2022, the Show Vs Show format returns as Paul and Wayne welcome the Pint O Comics lads, John and Lloyd onto The Countdown. John came up with the most excellent suggestion to discuss the Top 10 1980s Comedies and so the two shows went away to formulate their best lists to pit against one another in a battle to the ... well, it's not exactly death is it? More like, pride. But even then, Wayne is such a soft c*ck, so why should Paul put his pride on the line when Wayne isn't giving it his all ...
How many cross ups between the two shows are there? Is Back to the Future a comedy first and foremost? What was it with excessive nudity in films in the '80s? And which show is most into films from the Zucker brothers and Jim Abrahams?
Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues.
John and Lloyd make amazing guests, so check out their awesome show, Pint O Comics, as thanks for giving up their time to be on The Countdown.
Nightmare Alley review
Is there more fish penis for all to ponder?
Guillermo del Toro has done fairly well for himself over the years and has decided to follow up his Academy Award winning film about a woman falling in love with a fishman, with a film about Bradley Cooper playing a wide-eyed, young con-man getting into noir-esque trouble.
Does lighting strike twice? Or is Nightmare Alley a horrendously boring technical triumph? Can it justify its 150 minute run time or do the boys wish they were back contemplating fish dick?

Countdown #356
It's time for the annual episode in which the guys countdown a bunch of film's they haven't even seen yet! aka Their Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2022!
With everything from superhero films to horror and even a very dubious game adaptation mentioned, there's pretty much something for everyone to get their hopes up for. (Well, okay, if you're exclusively into musicals, you can probably skip this episode.)

Scream 2022 review
Do you like scary movies?
The Requel - or is it Legasequel? - returns with the 2022 version of Scream. Wes has long left us, leaving some very big shoes to fill, but Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett thought they could manage one foot each, so here we are.
Quite beyond whether this is the best sequel in the franchise, and whether it's the bloodiest film in the series, is whether or not Wayne has been so corrupted by Paul that he's now the negative one on the show? Or, if you prefer, is it time for Wayne to record his own Negatron theme?

The Top 10 Films of 2021
Countdown #355
We may have said goodbye to 2021, but the year was not without its cinematic merits. So for this BIG episode of the show, Wayne and Paul are revealing their very favourite films of the year and cheekily labeling them as the "Top 10" films of 2021!
But for this year best of year ep, the listeners are getting involved as 22 members of The Countdown Listener Community submitted their top 10 lists on very short (36 hour) notice, allowing the boys to compare what they're peddling with what a wider sample of the cinema-going audience has to say...
Will Wayne - the person who professes to hate horror - have a horror film on his list? Will Paul - the co-host who loathes musicals - find way to squeeze in a film about music on his? And what will the world say when Wayne sets the tone for the episode by talking about Free Guy?
